Yahoo patents smart billboard that can spy on passers-by: System can see into passing cars and listen to conversations to target ads

While you click, like or share, an online advertising firm is usually lurking in the background gathering data. However, Yahoo could be working on new technology that monitors a different kind of traffic – drivers on the road. The search giant has received a patent for a ‘smart billboard’ that uses cameras, microphones and a range of sensors to capture information of passers-by for ad targeting purposes.
